About the Friends The Friends fundraise to support new purchases, programs that promote interest in the library and the community, and volunteer for activities that enhance the library’s daily operations. Friends Book Sales The Friends hold used book sales on the second Saturday of January, March, May, July, September, and November from 10am (9 am for members) to 2pm. Proceeds from the sales go towards the purchase of new materials for the library. Donations of books for the book sale are accepted year-round and are tax deductible. Please check our donation policy to see if we can accept your items to donate. The Friends of the Library thank the estate of Wellington J. Gotschall for the generous donation of over 1000 books for the September book sale. Memorial/Celebration Books The Friends direct the Memorial and Celebration Books Program. Each book purchased will have a bookplate on the title page with the name of the honored person and donor. Click for more information and printable form.

Author Readings Each year the Friends of the McMinnville Library and the Friends of the Nicholson Library (Linfield College) team up to present “Readings at the Nick”, a series of author readings. Past authors have included Tracy Kidder, Philip Margolin, Ursula LeGuin, and David James Duncan. |
Explore Oregon Programs Each year in January and February, the Friends sponsor a series of programs that specifically highlight Oregon and Yamhill County speakers, authors, slide shows, and other programs of interest to our community. The programs are on Saturdays at 2pm and usually run for four-five weeks. |
Essay and Haiku Contests Throughout the year Friends members sponsor and act as judges for the Children's Essay and Teen Haiku Contests. |
